Ebody - Center Speaker Grille Fitment Question

Ebody - Center Speaker Grille Fitment Question - 08/12/08 03:00 PM

Does the center speaker grille have a slight bow to it naturally or are the two original ones I have warped from the sun? I have a UR refinished dash and when I put the grille on, it has more bow than the dash.

Thanks. Joe

Thanks. Now that I think about it..I think that my original dash was probably warped a little so it did not stand out as much. Now that I have the new dash, it is now more noticeable. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a dash issue with the new UR dash before I bought a new grille cover.

Thanks again, Joe

Mine crumbled before it warped. I have two replacements, one aftermarket and one NOS and they are both flat

Sometimes you can flatten them back out with a heat gun. It's worth a shot, and better than throwing it away, especially if it's not busted.

FYI: 70 challenger grill is different from the others... two of the "legs" are a little shorter so that it fits the 70 challenger dashpad. Other E body grills can be converted to 70 challenger style by shortening those legs.

I may try that TAV before I pull the trigger on a new one. 1 of the one's I have that is in very good shape is the later style. The 70 I have is nice but has a cracked corner. I may try heating the 70 as a test to see how it works and if does then I'll do the other one.

Those things are bad about warping. I think every one I have had was warped .

I need a new one for my 70' also. Wasn't someone making these out of billet aluminum.

In comparing my 70 grille (the broken one) with the later model grille, I found that all 4 legs on the 70 are shorter and that 2 are just slightly short. I knew that 2 were short as TAV mentioned but was amazed to find the other 2 were slightly different also. After trimming them it sat down pretty nice. It's presentable now.

Thanks, Joe
