Removing Convertible top molding - 02/17/10 04:53 PM

Getting ready to remove the molding around the trunk for paint. How are they held down? Has anybody ever done this on a 1969 Coronet?
Thanks,
Bill

I've done it on a Challenger. Had to remove the top to get at the screws from the underside

Yep they have studs with nuts holding them on.

Do you mean the surround mouldings common to your dutchman panel and quarter windows?

Quarter window mouldings are held in place by 4 or five flush screws which hold it to inner body panel.

Surround mouldings are held in place by phillips screws which pickup clips inside mouldings. They are accessed from beneath. You can get at them with the top stowed but will need an angle phillips as there is not a lot of room.

The pot metal pieces have a sheet metal screw on each end.

As stated above, also a stubby Phillips works well. Ron
