vintage rev counter - 07/22/08 08:32 PM

Can anyone point me in the right direction I'm looking to purchase a period rev counter something like a Sun II that I can fit on my steering column (63 Dodge).

Any Ideas?

thanks

Stick with something brand name, Sun or Stewart Warner. Avoid Faria.

Try to find something NOS because the rev counter gears are notorious for wearing out beyond repair.

Hi Mike, I was just curious, can you tell us a little more about the Faria tachs. I have one a friend gave me many years ago, and I still have it. I'm saving it to use in my '70 Swinger some day. Thanks.

Sure... the Faria tachs have a unique meter and circuit design and they tend not to be repair friendly. More often than not, I have to scrap the internals and replace them with modern components. OEM parts for them I have in very limited supply. Hope that helps.

Sure does Mike, thanks for the info. It worked when last installed in my '68 Dart, although who knows how acurate it might be. If it does ever quit working, like you said, I can have newer internals put in for reliability. Thank you so much.
