Who restores Carter Thermoquads? - 12/27/09 07:11 PM
I have a 1971 340 and would like my Carter TQ restored. Any suggestions on who does a GREAT job (knows what they are doing, installs quality replacement parts, has done it many times, stands behind their work)?

Good info.. It is very frustrating dealing with people that lack comunication skills..I'm dealing with a chrome guy like that right now... I do the work I can but unfortunately I can't do chrome & while I've seen some beautiful work this guy has done I was warned ahead of time the guy is flakey & I choose to use him anyway... Luckily I really in no hurry...

That's what I thought restorations are never fast or cheap.

I used this guy a few years back on a 72 340 TQ. He did a fantastic job and the carb works great.

Stop right now box it up and send it to Scott Smith, and know one thing, you can sleep at night
knowing that it will be returned with the correct plating and function like your looking for with excellent communication to boot.
Do you like plated parts on carb restorations ?
Do you like the correct appearing surface finishes on carb bodies ?
Do you want it to function as good as it looks ?

Scott did a great job on my A12 carbs. Doubt I'll use anyone else but him in the future. 100% quality.

Here are a few pictures of what you can expect the finished product to look like. 71 340 manual trans. carb. for my 71 340 Challenger three speed. Scott has also done numerous other carbs from lowly one bbls to a set of six pack carbs for my 70 cuda convertible. You won't be disappointed!!

Scott does all of our carbs at Rocket Restorations, wouldn't send them anywhere else. Not only are they OE quality looking but they actually work!

Scott sends out the linkage for plating. I don't know of anybody who can do that in house. All those chemicals are nasty and not EPA friendly.

I had Jeff Patterson aka rapid340 do this one. and member Eric Manuel aka 3404 do the plating

Another vote for Scott. So far, he has done 11 carbs for me and they all turned out about as good as it gets. It's very important, no matter who does your carbs, that they are run on a motor like Scott does so there's no drama when you fire up your motor.
