Upholstery shop in CT needed

Upholstery shop in CT needed - 12/23/09 04:57 PM

Anyone know of a good upholstery shop in CT? All I need done is have my new seat buns and seat covers installed on my front buckets and my rear bench cover installed. !970 Challenger and no thanks, i don't want to try it myself.

I've done my own on the past few cars and it's not as hard as you think.

Does any of the foam inserts need replacing? Are the seats still covered now with the original rods still intact?

I'm in S.E. Conn if you need a hand. Not as hard to do these as you might think. I've always done mine out in the hot sun or in my living room; the warmer the better working with the seat covers.

Just need a good hog ring plier and a bag of rings.

There's Andy's Trim Shop on Broad St. in New London, Ct. They can be a bit pricey, but have an excellent reputation as well as family owned 100%original 67 dodge dart and 1970 6cyl. barracuda convertable.

(They were installing an interior on a burnt orange 70 challenger R/T from RI area a few months ago when I drove by. Anyone here from R.I. own it?

There's one in Newington Ive used several yaers ago and also was on Chasing Classic Cars,its on Cedar Street.Can't remember the name of it R&M auto or Jerdan??

Others have told me that but i have $750 invested into the seat kits and i want them to be perfect. i restored the body of my car but i have never done seats.

I have used Ken at REDAN many times! Great guy and great work. He has done the seat cusion in my Ram pick up and a complete leather int. for a 57 Bonneville also My Runner seats. 1-860-666-4005 and tell him I told you.

Newington at the end of the Beril Turnpike just after Dons speed shop.

I Guess so, I think it was about 9 Grand for the Leather interior and Conv. top!
ECS Did not make a kit for it so I had to have it made from 4 leather hides custom dyed to match!

JMO, but if you can do good body work you ought to have the patience and attention to detail to recover a set of seats.

In my experience, it is relatively easy to reverse the cover installation process. Therefore if you are not entirely happy with the results you can peel the cover off and try again.

Now if you working under some tight deadline, you might want to consider a pro. I've been dilly dallying with my 70 cuda front buckets for close to a year now

. But I'm pretty f@%*ing proud of the finished product and too cheap to drop another $1K in labor to get them done in what I consider to be the "right way".

Thanks but the difference is that I have worked on hundreds of cars from a bodywork perspective. I have never done any seat cover work and again, based on the money I have invested in the kits and the desire to have them be perfect, I don't want to have my first time be on my own seats.

A1 Upholstery in Stratford did my challenger ten years ago ad Walt did a great job. He also did my vinyl top. He will do my road runner if I ever finish it.
