Its the gravel shield that goes between the rad support and the valence - at least on 1969 b'body. Painted black in 69 and I believe body color on 70 bodies..,

umm I think..lol

I don't ever remember seeing one on any of my 2nd generation Chargers nor my pervious '69 Road Runner.. Doesn't mean it wasn't taken off at some time........ But, I do agree with you that it seems to be a gravel shield...

I DISAGREE ,its for a 68-69 roadrunner, coronet, gtx, superbee gravel pan, they all had them, bolts go in from the bottom. dont know about 70 b bodys though, but probably had them.i own 3 roadrunners and a superbee and they all have them on it.

Is it on the Automatic cars to protect the trans cooler and lines in the bottom of the radiator? Or is it a Lynch Road/St. Louis thing?
My Lynch Road 4-speed Road Runner did not have one.

How can you say that most don't have them? I think what you mean is that most don't have them anymore. Look in your parts manual. They all had them. The Dodge and Plymouth are different. The one in the photo in question looks like a Dodge one. If my memory serves me right, the ones for a Dodge are not as narrow as the one for the Plymouths. They may also be different between 69's and 70's?

Are you sure they are different? The reason I ask it that I bought one for my 68 Coronet R/T and it doesn't fit exactly right but very close. I thought maybe it needed some tweaking but now I am wondering if it is for a Plymouth.

Thanks...

For sale one original gravel pan off a 69 Superbee 4 SPEED. This is leftover from Carlisle where it was picked up numerous times and asked what the heck it was. $50 or best offer.
