383 Magnum, 383 Four Barrel - 11/18/09 05:14 PM

I have seen 69 Bees with both 383 Magnum and 383 Four Barrel on the fenders. Why the difference?

I can't speak for '69 Superbees, but I have a '70 N code Challenger that is not an R/T and it has 383 four barrel badges, and the Challenger R/T's got 383 magnum badges.
Maybe 69 383-4 Coronets were supposed to get the 383 four barrel badge, and R/T's and Superbees got the magnum one. Either a factory error or restoration error could have resulted in the wrong badges getting installed on some Superbees?

I believe they are different becaust of which plant they were assembled.

I have no idea why...
I had a '69 Bee with emblems on the hood scoops as well as the fenders.

"Regular" 383 4bbl cars were "383 4-barrels", but by the magic of marketing, the performance models had "383 Magnums". That said, I'd bet that on the assembly line, a few cars got incorrect badges.
I had an untouched original '70 Satellite that had a Coronet 440 dash trim panel nameplate above the glove box instead of the correct Satellite nameplate.

I have an original '69 superbee marketing photo and it shows emblems just like my old bee...on the fenders and hood. I'm curious how many might have come that way??
