How many grooves for 383 A/C crank pulley no pwr steer? - 11/07/09 11:25 PM

The A/C crank (belt) pulley I have for my '68 383 Road Runner has four (4) belt grooves but my car doesn't have power steering, is this pulley correct?

Would anyone have a belt and tensioner layout for a '68 383 rr engine with A/C and no power steering. My altenator has a two (2) groove pulley and I thought the crank pulley should only have three (3) grooves (one for the water pump/fan and two for the A/C-Alt), is there a pulley for no power steering or is it just not used when you don't have pwr-str?????? Do I need to find a different A/C pulley TIA.

A/C cars with/without power steering used the same 4 groove crank pulley.
Part # 2465326 Used in all B and C body B-block ac equipped cars.
440 engines used a different pulley.
The outside groove is for the water pump.
The next groove is for the power steering. The two inside grooves is for the alternator & A/C compressor
Here is a copy of a factory assembly blueprint:

Hope this helps.
Keep in mind that is with the Chrysler alternator.
There is a three groove alternator pulley with the Leese/Neville alternator.
Which alternator you have???

You are welcome.
I am in the process of rebuilding my 383 C body and I bought the blueprint copies that make assembly easy.
