My opinion...It's too nice. Most NOS ones have a scratch or two. The paint looks thick like epoxy and you can almost see there it looks like the connector has been masked. I have refinished a couple and it has the same appearance as those. It's a very nice job of refinishing tho in my opinion. The stamping looks good.

I'm no expert but I would refrain from passing judgement without seeing it in my hand.
But, I don't see any signs it's had the screws tightened down against it leaving marks in the metal

Again, my opinion, It could very well be NOS, but looks to have been refinished. I have seen this done because of excessive shelf wear.

If not nos that is the ONLY thing it could be.

I have several and a few have yellow lettering. When did Chrysler start that?

Re: nos 70 voltage reg - 10/16/09 12:38 AM

It looks too good to be a 40 year old factory painted & stamped unit.

I have a few that are never installed/never painted & hope they look that good when ready for installation, but would that make them NOS?

Thats what I'm thinking. My guess is it MIGHT be NOS but would dare say it's been redone

That is the three terminal regulator that was used on 1969 Imperials and some B bodys.

Re: nos 70 voltage reg - 10/16/09 01:38 AM

thats a correct early regulator body.. it does look super good but i,m gonna say its an NOS unit.... but has possibly been refinished.. [still nos though...] again hard to say with out holding it and looking... the "other" dan

Without holding it in my hand I can't say but judging by the appearance and most other "NOS" ones I've seen in person, I'm with the others, most likely a true NOS example but it's likely been repainted and stamped, there are allot out there like that.

One of the Mopar Performance style two terminals.

Here is a true NOS one. Notice the upper left and lower right corners fade into the main portion. Other later ones have a point in those corners. You can also spot newer ones by the softer 4 corners of the main body even though they have the correct "dimple".

Re: nos 70 voltage reg - 10/16/09 03:48 AM

I say it is NOS or new guts repainted for this reason. If you look at the strap for the wiring harness (either black plated or flatter shade of black) it is still different in color then the rest. and the rivets are a gloss finish. so it was either all apart where the rivets/mount were removed or someone did an awesome job of masking it off,or its nos. like many have said without in hand very hard to tell

Never was aware that these could even have been rebuilt with new guts put in them.
