1966 rust repair - 10/04/09 05:25 PM

I have some rust on the floors under the rear seat. No completely rusted, but scattered pin holes. Would it be easier to find a donor car and replace sections or buy a reproduction piece and replace the whole thing? How hard is it to replace the whole thing? I already have a new one piece floor with rear footwell area. Any help and tips would be much appreciated. Pictures would be great too! Thanks

If they are just pinholes and the structure is solid, I would wire wheel it down and JB weld it. If the structure is still solid I wouldn't disturb it.... Kinda hard to make any suggestions without a pic......

Do you have a MIG welder? If you do then drop some weld into each hole. Have someone under the car hold a piece of brass or copper under each hole while you weld.

Yes, I do have a mig welder. I'll give that a try first. THe holes aren't very big, so it's worth a shot. THanks

It's been my experience with rust pinholes that if you hit them with a MIG, they turn into really big holes. If you have just one or two that's a different story. But if you put a light behind the panel and it looks like a starry night, I'd strongly suggest a panel replacement.
