challenger fenders from Jim's

challenger fenders from Jim's - 08/10/09 07:34 PM

I ran accross a good deal on some 72-74 Challenger fenders (repops) from a place called jim's auto parts. Problem is, they can't tell me who makes them. I obviously don't want a part that's not going to fit right - anybody here every deal with these guys or know anything about them? Anyone know who makes their body panels? Any help/input is appreciated.

Also, if these don't end up working out, where's the best/cheapest place to pick some up?

AMD is making the best repop parts for Mopars with the best fit. I don't think the Challenger one's are available yet but should be pretty soon. I would wait for those.

Regarding Jim's I have never bought anything from them and never will.

Goodmark is the only ones out there now.

AMD is supposedly coming out w/some.

Dynacorn also is to come out soon.

I'm not sure if the Goodmark ones have fixed the poor body line match on the passenger's side yet.

I thought Goodmark was the only ones making Challenger fenders right now.

If Jim's sells Goodmark fenders...they aren't perfect but are OK. THey have some body line issues but it is nothing a good bodyman can't fix.

I looked at my car on Thursday. They used the Goodmark fenders on it. After some work here and there...they look good.

So, this "Jim's" place doesn't have the best reputation huh? The price was catchy ($399 each), but I definitely don't want to buy crap parts. I talked to a vendor at the Nats this weekend who said he would give up the AMD's for $575 each...not too bad if they're the quality he says they are. The guy said he used to deal Goodmark, but now likes AMD's pieces much better - maybe it's worth the extra $

Thanks again to everyone for the input.

I've also herd that the passenger side has fit issues. if your gonna spend that kind of money and then have to have them "worked" to fit right, i would find used.

i got 5 different used fenders, 2 driver 3 passenger, for my challenger and then bought a NOS driver side for my 72. even the NOS fender needed work. each one i found was a little better than the last. but that depends what kind of resto your doing. I'm finding in more and more cases that the repop stuff is junk. your better off with used original.

Try roseville dodge for fenders and fair shipping prices, Jims' usually will not quote the shipping and then ding ya with a high shipping cost.

People who are local to Jim's tend to avoid doing business with them.

If you like atrocious customer service, "bait and switch" price policies, and exorbitant shipping costs, go right ahead and order from the Wicked Witch & Company at Jim's - otherwise, stay far, far away and order from a reputable dealer/distributor like rosevillemoparts, Dante's, etc.

Of course, the self-appointed Moparts "whiner police" may not agree with the above statement; however, if a poll were taken, you'll find an overwhelming majority of Moparts members avoid Jim's like the plague...

Jim's is bad news. years ago I drove all the way up there and there were holes in the hood he tried to sell me that he never told me about. Bait and switch city. Stay away.

Everything that has been written about Jim's seems to be unfortunately coming true on my own order - I've learned the hard way. I'll be happy to be out from under the current transaction! The whole experience has definitely left me feeling -

if not resolved, put in a complaint at your states attorneys office or if they are selling items cash and not giving a invoice contact the IRS.
