Anybody know how the steering sleeves and in particular, centre link on my 73 Challenger should be finished? Would it be semi-gloss black or unpainted (cast iron paint)?

Originally the sleeves are Black Oxide & the drag link is bare steel but relatively dark colored due to the forging process....

If the sleeves are the same finish as 69-71 stuff the sleeves were zinc phosphate. Black oxide is a ....gulp.....GM plating.
