Correct Fuel Pump for a 69 A-Body M-Code. - 04/15/09 12:25 PM

I've been doing some sprucing up on my Dart and I have a question regarding the fuel pump. It's assumed that our cars have assembly line 440 hp motors installed, with some minor changes. This would mean that the fuel pump would have a 3/8's nipple on the inlet side and a thread connection on the output.Darts and Cudas only came with 5/16 body feed lines so there would be a mismatch at the pump. Did they swap 383 pumps on the motors, meaning that there would be a nipple on the inlet and the outlet or did they just slam the hoses on the inlet and be done with it.Does anyone have any info on this.Thanks,John.

1969 440 hp. still uses the 5/16" line pump

3/8" pump on a 440 came out in 1970

Bill, 1969 B-Bodies w/H.P. used 3/8" body feed lines, checked the 69 parts book and the fuel sender # is different for 440/426 applications than the other engines. So why would they use a 3/8" line on the body and a 5/16" on the pump? This info tells me that the 69 440 H.P.pump probably used a 3/8" inlet. every 1969 and prior Non hemi B-body I've owned ( although I haven't owned them all, I've owned a bunch - had a 3/8" sender, but 5/16" body lines with a 1/4" vapor return line and 5/16" inlet pump
afaik
