PICS! First attempt at a 440 HP, what do you think? - 06/11/08 11:36 PM

I normally do small block stuff, but late last year I decided to enjoy my Coronet this summer and drive it all rusty and original. This meant that I had to build an engine and trans. Not to mention all the other stuff like brakes, fuel...... Anyways I took some pics of the 440 almost complete on the stand. Check em out and tell me what you think.

Very nice job on the 440. Aren't the valve covers installed on the wrong sides?

No...69 was as shown, 70 they swapped the PCV to drivers side....

Fine job of detailing Dave, especially for a first attempt! It took me a long time to get to that level. If you'd like to get your alternator and starter restored to match the quality and depth of detail on your other components, let me know. Dixie Restorations will be glad to help you.

If any of you are attending the Mopar nats this year, this car will be there. Hopefully I can drive it down blasting 8 tracks the whole way!

Darren, thats the car I sold to my brother. It will turn more heads than a restored version. Believe me! We will have it on Brice road on Thursday and Friday night....

Dave, you will be helping my brother with the hemi one day soon, this will be the car it goes in!

I assumed it was the same car... what color? I've been driving my rusty one around for a few years now and having plenty of fun, but getting Dave Dudek's help building a Hemi for that car sounds like LOTS of fun!

Yeah. Just another '69 convertible Air-Grabber R/T. Every time I see one, I think it's my neighbor, but there are like five more just like it driving around where I live. No pics of the rust. How bad is it? What you showed looks fine.

I don't think it will ever run, you should send it to me for the fire up and say a 10 year test period.

Very nice work and the car looks awesome, I am get more to the stage of drive what you got and restore for others.

Thanks for the kind words, I am hoping to give it a shakedown in the next month. Once I get the trans back, I'll be good to go. Brice road rides will cost one Coors Light if anyone is interested. By the way, the car is R4 red and it is sporting all of its original paint. Trust me though, the back end of this car currently looks worse than Joe Dirt's Daytona. Ha Ha!!

If the Hemi will go in that car we will do a few extra special things.. That car falls in my top 3 Mopars of all time.

Dave, Ive already got the block intake, carbs, manifolds, anda lot of other Hemi stuff set aside for this car. Give me a year or so and we'll start building a nice "426" Hemi. Ha! Ha!
