14 x 5.5 date code question

14 x 5.5 date code question - 06/11/21 02:10 PM

On a kelsey hayes 14 x 5.5 steel wheel with a k2 9 underneath does the 9 mean 69 or 79? It's smooth dome 4 nub 5 lug with 1 extra hole between 2 lug holes, maybe originally white. The k2 9 is on the band inside where the tire is mounted with nothing by the valve stem. It was in my 70 charger Road wheel car but who knows if it was original. Thanks just wanting to educate myself.

The “9” could mean either year I suppose but I bet it’s a 1969 rim. Maybe post a picture?

Here's a pic. By the lug holes is also stamped G and 11.

You should see a part number near valve stem as well. This will tell the story.

I blasted that area of the rim and no part number but it does say k2 9 11 on left side of valve and 26 55 or 5.5 on right

So, 11/26/69 dated 5.5" wheel. Not sure why no part number. According to White book that would be a 2944236 wheel.

Lots of wheels were made without stamped part numbers.

Yep, I had an early 390 15X7 with no part number awhile back.

The date on that rim is 11/26/1969. It has no date because it is a Kelsey Hayes rim. Dated rims were made by Motor Wheel. The White book is wrong about that part number.

Looking at the area around the lug bolt holes, I'd say it's newer than '69.

All good info thanks. What is the extra hole for in between two of the lug holes?

Are you sure you dont mean "It has no PART NUMBER because it is a Kelsey Hayes rim. PART NUMBERED rims were made by Motor Wheel.

Its origin is quite likely from your 1970 Dodge B-body

It could be used as well for someone wanting to put a B F Goodrich F-78-14 spacesaver tire on, hence the extra hole.
