The car is a 1970 Challenger. I will post pictures
of the nails and the locations in the floor. This is very odd because the car has never been apart.

Hi Alan

I know where you are going with this, but I need to know if this was done by the factory in special cases.

I am serious about lining up the barrel cuda with the candy cuda on any of the 400 highways. Nice vids by the way

Not really a highway car... I can't wait until Dave M. lets me behind the wheel of the "White Hat Special"

We only need a 1/4 mile. That is what the moparts readers would love to see on you-tube.

Then we can show Dave M what a prostock burn out looks like in a stock challenger.

Ok i do upholstery for a living and some of the old timers used nails back in the day, they didn't have the spray glue like we do today. My old boss told me a story one time about putting in a set of carpet with nails and about an hour after the car was picked up it burnt to the ground from hitting a wire. So i would have to say the carpet has been replaced at one time.

Are the nails date coded with a pentastar?

Pictures please!

I tore apart a 62 Ford Galaxie that had nails. Looked like stubby carpet tacks, only a little bigger. Also looked like they came out of some kinda air powered gun.

Okay I'll bite, How do you use nails? Do they penetrate the metal?

The only car I've seen with nails in the carpet was a 1962 Chrysler 300H. This was the carpeted trunk, btw. You can see pics of the car on the link below.
