I had some done. But the spring can rust right away. as they are only polished and plated closed. As and such are viewed as spread open. I just wanted to toss that out there.
I made 3 sets of rods up. Just bent simple stock to place where the springs go. light open halfway and fully open.
I would also put a few coats of car paint type wax on the hinges as well to prevent rust as well as they do rub when used.

Had them on my 69 D200, the springs and the bottom mounting plates rusted pretty quick. Not terrible rust but still surface rust from about one year old.

They are going to look like crap and you'll be held responsible !. There's just no way to properly polish hood hinges without complete disassembly and polishing and plating each individual piece - that means drilling all the rivets out. And then what do you reassemble them with ?!?! Hand them back and tell him he's on his own on that one !

I've' had these done since 1988. had them done at advanced plating. no rust yet. but it is always garaged. I know the ring brothers does make very nice billet hinges. another possible option?

Don't have a picture of my hinges and springs on my current phone but I will attach my you tube video..
These were chromed back in 1985 hinges and springs..nothing has chipped or cracked all this time..my only complaint was the chromer was not an automotive guy and did not polish out with it in the open position but it still worked out fine for me..they still shine bright as a Star

I had an nos set done in the 80s, still look perfect, they were dipped in the open position. Chrome shop would not polish them unless they were disassembled, too many employees hurt he said. I just locked the chuck on my da and polished them till they looked like chrome with 320 white 3m paper. I think restorick rebuilds them, maybe he could have them done for you? It was $50 cash back then.
