1971 Challenger RT Grill Colors - 03/09/19 10:12 PM

I am restoring a 71 Challenger (base model) and making it into an RT tribute as it appears a previous owner tried to do. I will not be badging it as an RT, but I will be adding certain items and colors that were originally on the RT cars. I need photos of how a 71 RT grill and tail section should look. One of the previous owners appears to have tried to do this because much is black. I am new to Moparts.org so I first searched teh forums for an answer. The latest thread I found was from 2012 and didn't answer my questions. For the purists, it was not a numbers matching car when I got it and it never will be. It already had the RT hood and an engine/tranny swap. While I appreciate any insight I can get, Please do not preach to me.

To create the back end RT look it is more that just the tail light panel. The back is painted black and the trim on the quarter ends also has black on it. I also believe my Challenger has a much smoother finish than what is in the link.

To the original OP here is what you need to know and please ask questions if it is not clear.

Front End
The grill is black plastic, no paint.
The headlamp bezels and hood trim are painted semi gloss black about half way up the front face and then they cover the parting line with black vinyl tape.

Rear End
The back of the car is painted black organisol. There is an engineering drawing in the other post that shows how it should be painted.
The rear finish panel is also painted black organisol other then the area around the tail lights which is silver.
The trim is painted semi gloss black up to the ridge that is formed in the part.
