Battery ID from broadcast sheet

Battery ID from broadcast sheet - 12/12/18 05:47 AM

Where in factory literature can the info from a build sheet identify the proper battery a car was built with? Line 3 of the build sheet in the bat box is the number 62. I assume this is the last 2 digits of the battery part number but where in the parts manual can a battery part number be found? Also line 7 block F of the build sheet is F23 in the battery box, where in factory literature can F23 be decoded? I do believe this is a 59amp hr group 24 yellow cap but would like to know for sure from factory documentation. Can anyone help? Thanks

What year broadcast sheet are wee talking about?
62 in the battery box on line 3 would be a 59 amp yellow cap batter for a 1971 383 engine and a 1971-73 340 engine.

Which plant also? Windsor typed stuff into the F section at times that is not battery related.

I’m sorry it is a 71 bee and is a 383 built in Lynch Road. Thanks rarefish, So the question is where would one find the information that you gave me in any Chrysler documents/literature like parts manuals service manuals etc.? Is the 62 the last two digits in the part number and if so where would one look that info up? I cannot find batteries listed in a factory parts manual. I did find in a aftermarket code book that F23 is a 59amp/hr yellow cap but it is just driving me crazy that I can’t find this info in a factory literature that I have. Alaskan_ta Thanks also for letting me know that build sheets could give different info depending on assembly plant.

My 71 Cuda 383 convertible has "62" in the battery slot on the build sheet as well. I have interpreted this mean it should be battery 2444562. My main reasoning is that I know it should have a group 24 battery and this is a group 24 battery with the last two digits matching up to the build sheet.

AMA - American Manufacturers Association

Example pages at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/ama/1970AutomobileManufacturersAssociation-01.shtml for 1970 Plymouth & Barracuda, but we do not have a 1971 set available for the HH Library yet.
