Red faced brake drum ? - 08/22/18 02:36 PM

What is the earliest known car/TSB with them? Have a 68 R/T SPD 5/22/68. The drums were blasted before I got to the car so any evidence is gone. I think it is too early myself but want some more info to go on. Thanks.

They look great when the sun is shining on them . . . if road wheel or rallye wheel car, then it's painted . . .

FWIW, the date on the engineering drawing for the red drum paint is dated 1-31-69.

Correct, and all the revisions are dated from about Feb. to Aug 69, which would make this either a VERY late 69 production intro, or 70 proposed production line treatment/operation

Thanks guys. Sort of figured it was a mid/late 69 deal but just wanted to make sure. The car is headed to a judged show next month and want it as right as I can.

there are engineering drawings for every model year

the above drawing is for "F" series 1970 model year

red painted drums existed before the 1970 model year

How far before I'd like to know. The earliest I have personally had my hands on was a SPD 426 69 Charger.
