What parts for your mopar would you like to see reproduced?

What parts for your mopar would you like to see reproduced? - 08/10/18 10:22 PM

Just want to get some ideas on what isn't made currently for A/B/E body that is desperately needed. The hobby has come a long way as regards to parts availability but there are still some big holes out there.

So far none of the items listed will see the day of light, unless an enthusiast/business owner requires that part for his/her own vehicle(s), or an avid enthu$ia$t inve$t$ in it'$ production... as the investment to produce it far outweighs it's return on just the initial investment, never mind any/if at all potential profit

Some of us can be more optimistic & focus on what we would like to see since it was asked. boogie

In other, very optimistic news - TA rocker arm sets may become available again if all keeps going well. up

Re: What parts for your mopar would you like to see reproduced? - 08/11/18 06:14 AM

Rubber/Vinyl floor mats. The OG translucent colored ones that you used to find in original cars years ago. Have not seen those in many years.

Pushbutton radio buttons. Chrome is always pitted or flaked.

Brake splash shields.

70-71 Dodge Challenger bumper guards. Someone on here was looking for those and turns out they are hard as hell to locate.

Radiator support to k-member brackets. Often full of gouge marks from hitting concrete curbs or wheel stops.

Brake rotor outer wheel bearing dust caps.

Correct chrome rallye wheel lug nuts.

Rallye wheel trim rings. Don't even think you can find 14" ones anymore, and clean 15x7 ones are worth stupid money now.

OEM style lower control arm sway bar brackets that can be welded to non-sway bar control arms. 67-72 a-body lower control arms with sway bar tabs are not cheap anymore.

Heater box housings would be cool, but doubt that would be cost effective. Many are dried out or cracked so it's getting hard to find nice ones if you building a high end car.

Mod tops and gator tops.

How about 904 and 727 oil pans? Maybe make them out of thicker metal too?

Whatever you decide to make please make it as good as the original. I've been buying reproduction parts for a while now and most of it is garbage. People are spending a lot of money tooling up parts that don't fit. Not sure if the Chinese can't read blueprints or what the problem is but it is really rare to take a repo part out of the box and have it fit and work like an original part.

I agree with this!

How about making it right.

The Chinese and Taiwanese can do it! I've made 1000s of quality parts in China but you need to sit on them to get the quality.

I should specify 71/72 RR/GTX correct seat foam.

The current 71-74 seat foam offering are actually more for 72-74 and 71-72 chargers with a specific pattern. 71-early 72 have a unique design and are apparently costly to reproduce.

I signed up for for 2 sets over 15 years ago when Legendary was planning on having correct reproductions made. Never have seen any ever made.

I just recently recovered a pair of 72-up seats with 71 seat covers and foam. The box the foam came in, says 71-74, but the foam has dates cast into them 73-74. Got them from Classic Industries.

Legendary doesn't show specific 71 RR/GTX foam, only flat foam. But does show that the 71 Charger foam has to be modified.

Layson reprod 68 decklid trim in stainless and it’s like $800. Very few people buy it, but it scared the people making 69 and 67 trim away.

COMPLETE A01 Light Package for '68, '69 B-bodies including the fender mounted turn signals and wire pigtail, glove box light, IGNITION LIGHT DELAY and capacitor, trunk light and switch, map light and wiring. I know I missed something ??? I wanted to add this to my '68 Road Runner but it was a pain to search and source everything individually and wished someone would put together a COMPLETE plug and play kit. I still want to add the A01 light package to my '69 GTX but once again it's a pain to have to go to six different vendors to get everything.

Someone could also make A01 light packages for A-bodies and even C-bodies as most of the components are available but as I said from six or more vendors......and some items you have to get from salvage or ebay WHAT A PITA. SOMEONE PLEASE PUT A COMPLETE A01 KIT TOGETHER a no brainer IMO.

How about the rubber floor mats? I don't know if those came with the cars, or where over the counter. They were a translucent blue or green color I think? Those are universal and would be an easy sell? Goodmark sold out of them and never made any more and that was years ago.

Hm Wheels but not just the rally's, slotted Chrome. Seen some crapy ones years ago and yep garbage. A/C lines with correct fittings. Fender emblems other than just the 67-72 factory race cars. Rubber moldings, pick a placement. Super rare stuff like for the air plane style heaters. Problem is most are made from unobtianium, borrowed phrase. Exhaust tips from the air craft or forward look years. Lenses, wide gammet. Light sockets, some strange ones were made. Fender and door mirrors. Steering wheels? Fuel gauge sending units. A/C compressor mounting brackets.

Now the realization. Unless your Ron Pratt or Joe Gibbs, cost to market is the key. When only 2 were made there just is no major market. Or if you have a larger number, 196 of which are either 2 door or 4 door again same thing. Get a good complete parts car and most likely your still searching for the non existant.

Did anyone ask for a '69 GTX 8-Track radio bezel? I see Tony is going to make the standard AM radio bezel and available soon but I've been search for a long time for an 8-Track version with no luck. Think there was one NOS 8-Track '69 GTX bezel available and it was crazy what someone was asking for it shock My GTX's 8-Track bezel has a small crack in the top center that I can live with but I'd replace it if a good reproduction was available. Found this of a '69 factory features slide show for sales training(?) and I'd swear the GTX's 8-Track radio bezel already has a crack in the top almost exactly like and in the same place as my '69 GTX, maybe that's a standard feature on '69 GTX 8-Track bezels shock wink laugh2
