69 barracuda owners manual..NOS or REPRO?

no idea how to tell nos from repro.. anyone know?.. will post pics soon

I would think it has to mention somewhere if it's repro, but maybe not if it's a licensed repro.

I believe NOS and original have red and black wording throughout the manual while repros are all black words.

If I recall another trick my buddy showed me is to look at the staples. If they are bright and shiney be suspect. Usually the NOS ones the staples show oxidation from the years.

staples are shiny..sadly i do not have another 69 manual to compare it to.. does anyone have a real vintage 69 they could look thru for other color ink?.. amazing nobody knows how to tell orig from repro..

I have an original and reproduction manual for my Duster and the original has some blue coloring in some drawings while the reproduction is all black and white.

I think this is the issue, the repros are done pretty well to most eyes.

I have an original 69 Plymouth Satellite owners manual and the printing inside is in blue and black

All of the pictures have a blue background.

Also on the back it has LITHO U.S.A 1 2 3 - the one you have is missing the 1

I just looked at my original 69 barracuda manual. white, blue and no red. Staples have oxidation/rust colored.

WHAT ABOUT THE BACK COVER.. does it say litho 123?

Litho USA 2 3 there is not a one (1).

check if the tearoff sheet is stipled

TEAROFF SHEET IS STIPLED..SO IT MUST BE AN NOS ORIGINAL..

"stippled" [i believe] means the tear off portion has tiny holes in a line that allows one to "tear off" that area with minimal effort in a straight line, to not ruin the rest of the page. not to be confused with "stapled", the method used to attach multiple pages together.

I think they mean stippled - perforation

yes... whatever its actually called..perforated to be able to be torn out.. the repro's are NOT PERFORATED is the obv difference..

Here's some sure fire ways to tell if yours is a repro.

Sure fire way number 1: Next to last page says it is a reprint.

Sure fire way number 2: Even though it is a Plymouth Barracuda Operator's Manual, there is an order form in the back to get your $6 (including postage and handling) factory service manual for Dodge.

Or maybe I'm wrong and the NOS or originals actually did offer Dodge, not Plymouth, service manuals?

But probably not, because I must have ordered my $6 Plymouth service manual by tearing out the perforated order form in the back of my original 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Operator's Manual. I'll dig it out in a day or so and post photos.

Stippled and perforated are not synonymous.

Well dictionaries are hard

The 1969 Barracuda Operator's Manual came in a 2 compartment clear plastic envelope along with an 8 page warranty booklet and a notice about PB and PS.

The features original manuals have that repros probably don't are:

1. There are three page 4s, because page 4 is a double-sized fold out.

Original is above, repro below.

2. Originals had two, maybe three, different colors of blue on interior pages, depending on your color perception. Plus the cover was a another different color of blue. Repros probably don't have any color on interior pages.

3. Originals had blue color on the inside front cover that is the same blue as the front and back covers. This is a different blue from the interior colors.

4. As mentioned, the order form was perforated. Mine is missing, because I tore it out and ordered the $6 service manual. I received a Plymouth manual, not a Dodge. Still have it, and it has lots of greasy fingerprints.
