Superbird decal color

Does anyone have a copy of the factory bulletin that states what color decal was “supposed” to be applied from the factory on each body color. I’m sure I’ve see it before. My V2 bird had white decals and it still had most of the factory paint I know it was originally a white decal on the wing. My buds V2 bird has black decals on it. It has been painted and I’m sure the decals were replaced at some time before he bought it. His are black so he always tell me mine is wrong. Lol. I’m sure they may have put some black decals on V2 cars by mistake at the factory. Anyone that’s an original owner of a V2 bird have black decal or white?

I have a V2 Superbird, had original paint when I bought it from the original owner in 1980, has white decals. Vitamin C orange got black decals, the colors are similar, possible the assembly line worker put the wrong decal on? My understanding is all V2 Superbirds had white decals.

That’s what I tell him every time the subject comes us. I’m going to get a couple of copies of it and stick it on his car at the next car show. Or have two or three friends walk up and tell him he has the wrong color decal and then produce the bulletin. You should have seen him jump when I tied a rubber snake to his trailer door with a piece of fishing line!

I’ve been looking on the internet for cars for sale and I’ve seen everything. Hemi orange and Vitamin C are sometimes hard to tell apart from just a picture. Most cars have been obviously been restored or modified so changing deacals is one of the things they do. I saw one that says it has 16,000 documented miles on it. It is Vitamin C. It has black Plymouth decals and a white lettering around the bird on the wing!

I went back to my old photo album of some cars I looked at in the early 80’s. This guy had nine wings cars. 7 birds and 2 Daytona’s. Three V2 orange cars and these were all original paint cars. I have pics of two that show the white decals

I know of 3 limelight cars that came with white lettering. ( all 3 were original paint at the time , one is still with original owner to this day )

yet all paperwork states they were supposed to get black.

PS Was close to you last fall when we did a trip along old Route 66 to California and back to Ontario, Canada. Had a blast.

I bought my EK2 Superbird back in 1976 and it had original paint and white decals. Here is a picture from back then.

I was told many times my FJ5 car had the incorrect white decals but the wing was never touched until I striped it. White decals are going back on.
