R/T side scoop bracket?

Seasons Greetings All, redirected question from the Q&A forum. Picked up a set of the repop R/T side scoops a little while ago. They appear to be a very nice, accurate piece. Similar to the originals, these have that little bracket on the inside that seems to serve no purpose. On these repops, there is also some wire sticking out of the same bracket. Anyone have any idea what it's for? The wire will have to be cut off or bent down for the scoops to fit flush. Thoughts??
