Fender tag screws - 70 B-body - Lynch Road Car. - 11/13/17 05:37 PM

What fender tag screw are correct for a 1970 Super Bee Lynch Road car. How do the tag and screws get painted?

Also, where can I get the correct screws?

Thanks,

Jeff

I'm pretty sure that one screw was installed and the fender tag was bent up with the second screw being installed after the paint process. This was to allow paint to get behind the tag to prevent the top of the inner fender from rusting.

'69-'70 model year Lynch Rd. fender tags were NOT installed on the inner fender when the car was painted

they were hanging from a wire near the windshield opening & received varying amounts of paint - from none to full coverage

Fender tag screws and many other sheet metal screws from the Mopar muscle car days were generic, unmarked sheet metal screws still sold in hardware stores.

Phillips pan tapping #6-20 or #8-18 or both (one of each) x 3/8", zinc plated were used. Same from Home Depot today would be an exact match.

My car not from Lynch Rd had one of each size on the tag. Yours might need both to be the same.

i can think of many unique screws used on mopars
that are made of unobtainium unless you harvest
them from a parts car..

Of course many fasteners are unique, but as I have cataloged all 2000+ fasteners on my car for bulk restoration, I stand by what I said - there are many generic ones. In fact there are 31 other generic #8-18 x 3/8 Phillips pan head zinc plated sheet metal tapping screws in my car, mostly near the dash panel, that are identical to the generic one in my fender tag and to the same at Home Depot.

Agreed also.

This tag was found hanging by a wire after removing the windshield and complete dash from a 70 Superbee
