Holly Model 2300 Fuel filters - 06/27/17 03:05 AM

Good Day All

Been awhile since I've posted. Been working on a Tri-power '66 GTO.

Anyway, This is for the 6 pack/6BBL crowd:

Are there suppose to be filters in each carb? I have a 71 service manual that does not mention any. Mine did not have any so I added them (the sintered metal ones from Wix) along with the appropriate springs last winter. I finally got the '68 out today (first time this year) to fill it up. It started and idled great but is a total dog under full acceleration. The vacuum pods appear to be working but I cannot see any fuel in the outboard carbs when you blip the throttle. The center carb appears to be doing all the work.

Since the fuel lines are a pain to seal I thought it wise to ask first instead on tearing into it.

Thanks to all who respond.

First thing I would do is remove the sight plugs and see if there is gas in the bowls. Never had those filters cause an issue unless you have a really dirty fuel system.

Good Morning

Thanx Morty426.

I did remove the sight plugs with no fuel evident. That is why I asked about the filters.

Looks like I'll be removing the fuel lines.

No filters in mine and mine are aftermarket.

I've never run the filters inside the carbs, but good fuel filters before the carbs. I've thought about it several times since they are shown in the carb diagrams, but never wanted to limit my fuel flow.
