I don't have as much '71 info organized as '70, but your Barracuda would be the latest '71 E-body convertible I know of

the latest Challenger I have info on is: JH27G1B426814 - "SCHEDULED" 6/09

Maybe Gerry if Ola lands his 767 he can chime in with the last Number in his Registry. I will look up numbers and see if I have a Serial number higher than yours but I would not likely have a build date or any other information.

71 vins run well into the 452000 range. Highest one Ive seen is BH27G1B438314 and there probably lots higher.

438--- 622 seems to be a popular date to sched. a Plymouth Convertible E Body to be built. Know of 4 with this date and I do not collect this stuff Ola is still the one to talk to.

Furyman do you have many BCSheets of 1971 Challengers and Barracudas from May 20 to the end of production. Just the top line of the broadcast sheet has all that Dan or I would need for a bigger comparison.

1971 Hamtramck VINs run at least into the 494xxx range.

It would take a lot of documentation to prove which of any model was actually built last, such as actual plant build records.

Yes next to impossible is correct. Just want to get some ball park information put together. Like to see some more broadcast sheets from 395000 and up for the E Body build in May, June and July of 1971. I started trying to figure out the date of body panels, bumpers and other things on the 1971 to the 1972 build changes. Came up with some close numbers but it is never 100 percent on and exact Vehicle. I have never seen any information on Breaking Points on any of these changes. I use to go out in the Plant and stand by the Vehicles were I worked and write down the Sequence Number of the first Vehicle that got the new part. VIN has nothing to do with the part there is a Computer list of how thing went down the line and this number is the breaking point for the list. The VINS do not run in sequence so you need the master Sequence build to know were your vehicle stands with a change. Even then you have to know if a plant ca pull a build off the line and put it back in a different sequence. If Chrysler kept this information it is now recycled many times or burnt in one of the Plants Power Houses.

Nope.

No more so than anyone can prove it was I suspect?

Big claim to make, so it was (and is) a serious question.

If proof of actual build dates exist, we would all love to know! wave

Up until the the MDH door sticker codes reflecting the final build data came to be of course.

Different story after that.

do you mean the "compliance decal"? That has nothing to do with the build date directly, just informing the Public that the vehicle was built to the MOTOR VEHICLE SAFTEY STANDARDS in effect on the date shown above?

For anyone not yet aware of the MDH code that started fairly late in the 1972 model year, there is a two page TSB that explains it at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/TSBs/1972/25-08-72D%20p1.jpg

Please stop with the smoke screens, the subject line was about 1971 barracuda's. 1970 was the first model year "required" to have the Compliance Decal. Please take note of the date of your posted "document", If I read it correctly it is dated 1972. The First "compliance decal" was first used on some but not all Daytona's but became mandatory for the 1970 model year. The wording on the decal was chosen by multiple choice by the manufactures (4) choices that would best suit there purposes of self compliances. If you would take the time to read the Compliance Decal of the 1970 -71 model year you would see that it self explanatory.
it reads " THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO ALL APPLICABLE U.S. FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFTEY STANDARDS IN EFFECT ON THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE SHOWN ABOVE" key words conforms, applicable, in effect on the date of manufacture shown above. noting the vehicle was manufactured by the Safety Standards in effect on that particular date. nothing about the date the vehicle was finished or assembled. that is not an opinion it is simply what it states.
