70 Charger firewall plug?

70 Charger firewall plug? - 12/06/16 04:36 AM

There are rubber plugs that are used to fill the firewall insulation push pin holes not being used on Chargers (all 66-70 B bodies?) with AC.

Are these available new anywhere?

These Cheby firewall plugs look close.

Same on other b-bodies with A/C. Never looked for them so unsure of availability.

I don't think these plugs or the grommet with 3 holes that vacuum hoses go thru are being reproduced. Something I guess I'm obligated to make since we do all the heater box and firewall related stuff.

Only 2 holes / lines through that grommet. Will double check the number.

Are there 2 different ones? I know the ones I saw looked like a recessed floor plug but with 3 holes for the hidden headlight hoses. I see thse at the shows and online for like $100 with the hoses.

1970 Coronet with AC - 2 hoses.

I am deleting the AC on this car, so if you need the two plugs for patterns, just holler.

Hollering smile

Tried PM but says you aren't accepting. I am so shoot me a message.

PS What are the hoses to going thru that 2 hole grommet. I know the 3 hole grommet is for the hidden headlights on a Charger.

They were cut when I bought the car, but I can look into it.

PMs do not work for me, so drop me a line at sixpak340(insert at symbol here)att.net

One hose goes to the vacuum storage can under the battery tray. The other goes to the vacuum diaphragm on the heater control valve.

Well, this is a timely subject for me. I'm just finishing up a 70 Charger with A/C and I forget about that vacuum can. Does the hose that goes to the can have a splice in it right at the firewall or does it go all the way from the can through the grommet to the inside?

If 71TA doesn't need the plugs for a pattern let me know I can use them on my 70 Charger restoration.

He wants them, but after that they will be reproduced & available for anyone that needs them.

That hose has a splice in it about 6" from the firewall, looked at 2 1970 cars that are pretty original.
