WHAT IF THE FABLED BENDIX CASTINGS 2229191(HEMI)..AND 2229171 (NON HEMI )..WERE AVAILABLE NEW.....I NEED THOUGHTS ON THIS AS I AM CONSIDERING POURING THEM.WAYNE BROWN..THERAMMAN.COM

I have three NOS 171 masters and I hate to admit that, because every time I mention that fact, someone tries to get me to sell them one. People like those numbers and I would think they should sell pretty good.

What is a reasonable price on an NOS 171 master nowadays ?? I've seen the retarded $$$ ones on e gag at 1K and up...whats realistic...$500 ???

Here is one that just sold:

This one had a 1970 date code, so is worth a premium price. Most of the NOS ones that show up on the market have later date codes, from the mid '70's. Later NOS ones have no markings on the caps either, where the early ones have the brake fluid spec callout.
I'd say $400-$600 is a good price today for an NOS one, and an early datecode would bring a $200-$400 premium depending on how early the date code is and how much the buyer needs it for his OE gold restoration.
If an NOS one with a '69 date code turned up I bet there would be people who would gladly pay over $1000 to get their hands on it.

What about a used 171 with a 318th day of '69 date?

Why do the cylinders on Superbirds have the lines exit on the engine side. Why did they make that change? Can you buy rebuild kits for them?

All disc brake B body MCs from '68-'70 had the lines exiting on the engine side, except for '70 hemi cars.
There was a 1-1/8" master cylinder rebuild kit available on the aftermarket that works for these, I believe it would still be available.
