They flopped back and forth all the time but I think the 426 in 69 got the 215

Its my understanding the 4 spd got the 215 and the auto the 216. The 216 is 1/2 inch larger

I just happen to have a NICE 215 fan.....so 215 will be!!!!

thanks!!!

Im gonna check for straightness on the blades while turning it on a water pump i have bolted to a block..... and then I will also have it balanced just to be safe....dont trust an old fan that has been tossed around for years.

Is the 215 that you have with the part number stamped on or printed?

Re: 69 hemi charger radiator fan: 215 or 216? - 04/28/16 11:37 PM

I have both styles of 215. I wonder why some had the stamped number and some didnt?

I need to do my 68 HEMI RR auto, and then my 69 HEMI Charger 4 speed. I was thinking Id use the 215 fans I have on those cars, and then the other 216 fans I have on my E Bodies.

Also, i guess all 216 fans had the inked number?

My opinion is the stamped number is correct and the inked number would be the replacements

Both 215 and 216 came stamped and inked,

how will you balance it if needed ? static or dynamic balance ? add or remove weight and where ? i'm curious, as i have never seen this done. thanks in advance. please take pics.

Unless something is missing, rivet or metal I would see no need to balance. twocents

In my opinion, based on research I have done in the past, the 215 is correct fan blade for a '69 Hemi 4spd.

The 1969 Chrysler parts book shows the 215 for the Hemi (auto and 4spd), and the 440 (4spd only). You may notice there is a mistake in book, the Hemi is not listed for B body cars. shruggy confused

The 1969 Chrysler service manual also shows the same fan blade used on Hemi auto and 4spd, and 440 4spd only cars.

This info also agrees with the BC sheet info from Dan.

You have a good 215 blade you said, so great! up

I dont think thats true. Any fan that has had any kind of misshandling will vibrate badly. And will cause stress to the blades and rivets that hold the blades on the center spider. The fact that the fan is attached to something heavy and solid such as an engine and wont make you notuce is out of balance doesnt mean its ok!!!

If not just watch how any hosehold fan will vibrate to destruction when you mes just ever slightly with any of the blades.

An unbalanced fan will mess up your water pump a lot faster. Not to mention it can come apart while in operation and mess your car bad....or even worde kill you.

I will balance mine even if it takes to put a non original rivet here and there on the blades.

I just dont trust a fan that has been kicked around amd tossed in storage for 40 years!

Dynamic. Usually balance is corrected by making sure the blades are even and centered and with the same pitch and then balance is corrected by adding weight via special balancing rivets on the blades.

Mine is a 4spd 3:54 with a 215 blade as shown on the broadcast sheet, to help fill in the blank a bit.
