YearOne Ebody door panels - how close to original?

Does anyone know if the door panels from YearOne are of good quality, fit, and looks are close to OE? Who makes them? Looking at a set, front and back, for a 70-74 ebody.

I bought a set of their seat backs for E and B body and was really impressed with the quality. They were a lot cheaper than the other good ones available ( metro) I think and a lot cheaper.

bought a set in 2007,from yearone they were made by palco industries,molded in b5 blue,the panels were not close to factory,the plastic was like model car plastic,chipped and cracked very easy,the originals had like a flexible rubber plastic to them,these did not,the pass side front was way off from fitting and the grain was a lot larger than factory.hopfully over the last 8 years they have gotten better.

That was years ago, they are different now. Just ask if they are injection molded, or vacuum formed. Their good ones are injection molded just like the originals.

I have been patiently waiting for injection molded convertible panels. Been waiting a long time.
Hopefully they will be available soon.

Folks buying those panels say Metro brand is injection molded. Place to buy is at Roseville. They sell the good ones.

Bought two sets from Roseville. Don't look any further. Those other panels are cheap and look and fit like socks on a rooster.

AFAIK the ONLY injection molded examples are the ones Metro had made, if you find them elsewhere it's likely that they are just vending Metro's.

I doubt we'll ever see injection molded rear panels of any kind, too many variables, color, etc. and a very small market for a VERY expensive endeavor (price out injection molded tooling sometime, then check into minimum runs required, it'll be sobering believe me!). Quite frankly I'm shocked the fronts got done. Hopefully I will proven wrong because rears are sorely needed. Palco's and Accuform's are all thermoformed and are nothing like originals in fit, texture, or raw material. Junk IMO

I agree with Scott on the non injection molded ones, weather it's call vacuum formed, or thermoformed, they look like crap. I have a new set of lower door panels that are still in the box cause I thought looked sooo fake that I spruced up a set of originals instead.

Metro never made those panels they just marketed them.They are made in China by a Company...J-L.

Furyman, I realize Metro was getting them from offshore, my point was that as far as I know Metro offered them for sale first and that there is (most likely) only one manufacturer, China or otherwise.

I think now that Metro is focusing on skateboards he has sold off most pieces of his restoration parts to others. I think the only thing he kept was the antennas. So,whoever currently owns them they are ones that Metro developed and now are being sold through more distribution, it seems.

At any rate, the door panels are nice. My issue was (I did discuss this with Joel), why would you have the holes drilled for woodgrain inserts and/or window cranks/pwr windows?? Provide a template and have the customers drill the holes. It complicates their offerings. I wanted non-woodgrain (early production) power window in blue...guess what? They didn't have them drilled that way.

Regarding the convertible panels, Metro was taking credit card numbers with an agreement to purchase to try and get to a quantity where they could make the tooling. I am not sure what their magic quantity was, but they never got to it. I think he was thinking the panels would have been about $900/set. I can't believe more weren't interested, but those would be expensive tools and unfortunately different tools for Cuda and Challenger.
My guess is he got the engineering part done though, so if someone wanted to help the hobby and all their friends on Moparts....
