Factory Rubber Floor Mats - 11/18/15 03:04 PM

All -

I was looking through some old threads and saw the pictures below of factory floor mats.

I think I already know the answer...but are these tough to find? I would assume not many people ordered them? Also, did they only come in black?

I'd like to try to find a set for my 70 Cuda, but not sure how difficult it will be.

Thanks for your help everyone!

The mats on the top right look like accessories mat sold over the parts counter. They were probably fits all as that came cut to fit.

Yes...you are correct. The mats on the top left (and in the lower pic) were the style that came from the factory if you ordered them when you ordered your car (based on what I've read on-line).

It's these that I’m trying to locate, but I'm guessing it'll be a difficult thing to find.

I'm curious if anyone in the Moparts community had these installed in their car...

4.5% (~752 'Cudas) of 16,710 US spec. '70 BS23s had factory floor mats, and they were color-keyed to match the carpet.

My R/T is one of 6.0% (~820 Challenger R/Ts) of 13,668 US spec. '70 JS23s with factory floor mats C92.

I could use a black set, but have never seen a set (or individuals) for sale.

I bought my 70 Charger R/T in 1981. It is coded on the build sheet for factory installed floor mats and it had the ones on the right in the top picture. It's possible they were changed out in the 10 years previous to me owning it.Just throwing this out there. John.

Great info guys!

That's a really small number of cars that were equipped with them, as I expected. Is anyone reproducing the "factory" floor mats...not the over the counter mats, which I know are reproduced?

The top left ones look like the ones Classic Ind. sells for a A body.

charge70 if you look at the other aftermarket mat on the right they have the extra piece that gets cut off with a knife or scissors. when I worked at the dodge dealer back in the 70`s we sold them over the counter at the parts dept.

Re: Factory Rubber Floor Mats - 11/19/15 06:54 PM

charge70 - I was under the impression that the mats in the 2nd picture I posed above (with the pentastar on the back) were the mats that were shipped from the factory when that particular option was ordered for a E-Body in 1970.

To mopars4ever's point, the other type was sold over the counter at dealerships.

Are my assumptions correct?

Looks like the mats from classic industries match the 1st type I mentioned.

I removed this set from a 1971 Charger 500 a few years ago! They were ordered with the car and on the window sticker as C92

Do those mats have any kind of part number or penta star on them?
