Window channel lubricant - 11/09/15 07:53 PM

Im installing new window channel slides on my Superbee door glass and want to know what I should use to lubricate the vent window channel that the roll down side window slides in. Also what type of grease for the window regulators.
Thanks

I have always had good luck with "door-ease" stick lubricant.

How about the white lithium grease in a spray can? Anyone use that.

I used to use lithium on them (I think the factory did too). I now use tri flow synthetic.

There is a product called sil-glyde. A silicone grease that doesn't ruin rubber or plastic.

When I did this for a living "back in the day" we used graphite at the glass shop...

That's what I am talking about what we ( in the glass business) used graphite for. The CHANNEL the glass runs up and down in. The shop purchased graphite in large tins that we poured into squeeze bottle applicators.. Any type of grease or lube would gum up the channel making it MORE difficult to operate..

Grease was used in the REGULATORS ( the crank/gear parts) only.. Grease was also used in the metal tube ( I cannot remember the correct name for the part) that the plastic wheels (riveted to the regulator arms) were inserted into that was connected to the bottom of the door/Qtr glass..
The grease does get hard over time making it necessary to clean and regrease when the operation of the window gets hard.

Personally, I would try a newer synthetic grease, like Napa Sil glide, in the regulator parts now...
