When I bought my reproduction WSW tires, I wasn't happy with the look of the white stripes. They were very rough looking. I contacted the person I bought them from and he forwarded the issue on to Kelsey Tire. This is the response I received. This might be another option to try.
The white stripes appear to be bad buffing at the factory. You will almost always see a little bit of roughness in every stripe, red, blue, white or gold. There is a fix for the white stripe if your customer has access to a product called Xtra seal rubber prep. Simply pour on to a clean rag and rub the white strip, the eggs shelling will disappear. You can find this product at any O reilly’s parts store. The black wall does appear to be the (Blue) protectant. Have your customer use an SoS pad with soap, this should clean up the black wall.
One more point, if your customer does use the Xtra seal rubber prep, Do not let it drip on any painted surfaces. Hope this helps. Oh Yeah, if the SoS pad does not work. The Xtra seal rubber prep can be used on the blackwall.
I was also told that if I couldn't find the "Xtra" product, that I could use laquer thinner. Just make sure to wipe it on and off quickly.
