Did 69 1/2 A12 Super Bees have door belt moldings? - 01/20/09 01:25 PM

I was told they didn't. I posted a pic of my 69 1/2 Clone Bee(which has them) and was told it was considered incorrect from the factory.

Any A12 guys?

They could as they were optional on all two doors except convertibles on which they were standard.

About a year ago I posted a pic of my Clone Bee and it was instantly pointed out to me that the door molding was Incorrect. That's ok. I like it, but always wondered. I've never personally seen one with it, but if you look close to the original "Six Pack To Go" ad, it has them.

EDIT:EDIT:EDIT: you're talking about the trim on the top of the door and the rear quarter at the bottom of the window right YES, YES, YES that trim was available and rare! I have it on my A12 Road Runner too (and came on my '68 Road Runner)

It's not a common option but if you look through the numerous photos here, I'm sure you'll see other cars with them.
Too bad the Lynch Road built cars don't have more options like that listed on the fender tag. It would make it easier to document and research.

Yeah, I think the BLT is relatively uncommon. If you guys will forgive me mentioning my non-A12 here, my '70 SB has the BLT and it APPEARS original (darn LR tag and no BS!) It sure took me awhile to find a good set, but I'm glad I didn't just delete the trim prior to paint.

My info shows about 20% of US sold 69 RM21 and RM23 cars got the belt molding. More common on a HT.

Our 69 Road Runner (RM21) car has them. This car is a Spring Special Coded Car, I have noticed the molding on a lot of cars with that package.

Can someone post a pic of a car without the trim so I can clearly see the difference? So my guess is that the drip rail moulding just stops short of the quarter window "point" on the back. The mouldings in question just pick-up were the drip rail moulding stops.

My post car has factory installed belt molding but the pass mirror was an ad on. This car also came with bumper guards. Wonder if there is any pattern here.

My WM23 383 bee has it , and originally had bumper guards on the front also , no right side mirror .

If you like it THAT'S ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS , 99% of the people that look at the car don't know what's right or wrong to begin with , and it's a CLONE , and they won't know that unless they look at the VIN ... nice car ...

Pretty much, but they use different corner trim pces at the "point"

Mopargem can you post a close-up shot of the door belt mldg and post area. My question is I know the rear window belt mldg was notched for the pillar was the door one notched too? Thanks in advance...

Sorry I am away right now and may not be able to take a close up pic until Sunday evening depending on if I get snowed in. I dont think it's notched but cant remember for sure. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Your clone bee looks super. Well done. I feel any nice car is a nice car. Shouldn't matter if 100% correct or not. A job well done should be respected. I'd much rather have a cloned A12 car then a 100% correct Chebby. If your actually going to drive it and enjoy it build it any way you want. Some very sweet Bee's pictured above. Nice to see them being brought back from the grave.

Any of you guy got a pair of belt molding laying around, I need just the parts that go on top of the quarter, I have the pieces that go on the doors. if you do and want to sell them pm me. My car is a hard top.

Keep the belt molding regardless...it's a beautiful piece of rare brightwork that really sets the car off...wish my car had 'em...

Thanks Mopargem... I have a complete belt mldg set for a post car but I may need to rob one of the doors for my wife's 68 500 ragtop that is missing cause if I sell the set I'll probably never find a single for hers...
