E-body rallye tach repair - 05/18/15 05:19 AM
Hi,
Has anyone repaired the 1970 rallye tach that came in the E-body, and could you perhaps say what component failed or was replaced?
Thanks

There are a couple of large wattage resistors that fail after one of the transistors shorts out. I have never found a schematic for the board. I just replaced the innards with the RT Engineering board. Greg the designer says it is much more accurate and I have to agree. I have a Megasquirt board running on my car and its digital tach indicator is very close to the indication on my in dash factory tach with the new board.
Here is a write up on the install:

Thanks Craig, I will give RT a call, and go through my OE PCB when I have time.
