current situation...electronic ignition, ballast resistor, fire wall regulator..stock 60 amp alternator...Dash voltage meter bypassed by aftermarket amp meter....everthing works fine.

installed chevy 1 wire alternator(100amp) and connected black heavy wire and nothing else.

amp gauge now reads slightly on negitive side of zero and battery reads 12 volts when running.(outside meter reads 12 volts as volt meter disabled, see 1st paragraph)

Do I need to disconnect the firewall regulator ?
What do I do with the two wires going to it ?

Thanks in advance...thanks moparts

As long as there is battery power at the alternator stud it sounds like your new one wire alternator is not working.

Well there is your problem. It should be hot all the time. If your other alternator worked as you claim you must of burned up a fuse link with some sort of short to ground. Either the alternator is shorted or you accidentally grounded out that circuit.

found the problem...just installed the hemi after the engine bay being painted and a wire(hot) was shorting out and dropping the voltage to the alternator...fixed and now have battery power at the alternator

Thanks to all
