70 Challenger General questions ( restoration ) - 04/26/15 10:27 PM

Car is finally painted. Hope to get it home in next few weeks after doors, fenders, and hood get mounted.

Questions:
Any images of front suspension detail ? ( not going to get crazy on every little detail ) but want it to look nice. I will be driving it on a regular basis. Looking for what is what color on the front suspension. Any tips on off the shelf paints I can use would be great, and any tips on painting the front suspension parts.

Rear leaf spring color for a RT ?? (grey ? black ? )

Egg crate ( front grill ) for a RT ( silver correct ??, not black ) ?

I will need some help as things go along, thanks for any input.

FYI- The "Google" custom search near the top of the page is your best friend on this site to search previous posts and info. Oodles of info!

Eastwood Detail Grey, or Brandon Industries (they vend at Carlisle) has a Stainless Paint I like a lot both are good for raw metal look.
Lower and Upper control arms, tie rod ends and front sway are natural/raw. The LCA's would have been coated in cosmoline (honey appearing coating).
Sway bar mounts are natural as well. I usually just clear-coat them.
Drag link...some may disagree, but I paint them black.

Leaf springs. Some will say natural and others black. I think the prevailing theory is that black was likely on later 1970 model year cars.
I have tried to keep rear springs looking decent when painted natural, but if you are going to use the car paint them black (IMO). They will rust in-between the springs and you can't keep touching up the natural look. Far easier to touch up the black as needed.
