two questions about original distributors - 11/15/14 12:16 AM

1) who rebuilds them?
2) does anyone rebuild them and put modern electronic components in them?

I know Frank Badalson used to advertise that he restored them, but a friend of mine completely restored his cast iron dual point unit and said it wasn't hard and I'll have him look over my shoulder when I do my cast iron dual point...but I recurved my MP electronic distributor 20 years ago and then did my friends, wasn't hard, just need a large, clean work area for all the small parts. I think mopar muscle had a step by step breakdown on a how too a few years ago. Another friend of mine did the Pertronix conversion to his GS Stage 1 distributor - no problem

Paul Petco (member "Beeware")did my original dual point. Very reasonable and the car has never run better.

Are you trying to restore an aluminum Mopar distributor or a Prestolite dual-point?

The Prestolites are easy to do.

I had Advanced Distributors do mine and am very happy. Jeff has the tools and knowledge to set your distributor up right based on your engine. Stock, massaged or race I think you would be very happy with the end result.

Brady's work is nice but for what it takes I think his price is a little on the high side,I've done a lot and just can't see the justification.

I have a new in the box 1382 that I ordered by accident. I'd sell it to you cheap if your interested in used. It's brand new, I never used it. Got it from Summit Racing.
