Re: 070 clutch fan - 10/31/14 03:47 PM

Two places can restore them, Fred Olivera and "The Pampered Corvette". Both are pricey and slow. Date codes were ink stamped on the face. Tony's Parts www.tonysparts.com now has an improved reproduction which is now pretty darn accurate. NOS? GOOD LUCK!

Re: 070 clutch fan - 10/31/14 03:58 PM

with Scott.

Expect about 10-12 months turn around time from Fred Olivia.
Plan ahead, send it!

well worth the cost if your doing a correct restoration.

Re: 070 clutch fan - 10/31/14 06:02 PM

Here are two 070 clutchs that I have.

One is the original to my '70 Bee (bottom clutch)

The Date code is F18J

F=1970
18=18th day
J=September

The SPD on my Super Bee is 9-29-69.

I'm thinking this is how the date coding works on these (makes sense), if I'm wrong, someone please correct me

Makes sense to me James.
Unless anyone else can offer a different opinion, that is what I'll go on.

Re: 070 clutch fan - 11/01/14 03:32 AM

I believe the date is as follows: Month Day Year, with the letter I included. The year will start over with 1970, 1980, etc.

The first letter is the month:
A - January
B - February
C - March
D - April
E - May
F - June
G - July
H - August
I - September
J - October
K - November
L - December

The next 2 digits are the day:
Day 1-31

The last letter is the year:
A - 1960
B - 1961
C - 1962
D - 1963
E - 1964
F - 1965
G - 1966
H - 1967
I - 1968
J - 1969

So a fan with an A8J is January 8, 1969 (Wednesday). The one in the picture below is F18J or June 18, 1969 (Wednesday). F10A = June 10, 1970 (Wednesday) in the previous post.

This is what I have been told by several "experts". If it is not correct, please post the proper definition of the code.

Hope this helps.

Scott, When you say a new improved reproduction from Tony's parts do you mean there has been a change since Tony first brought them to market?

Re: 070 clutch fan - 11/02/14 05:23 PM

Hi

yes we have made a version with an accurate face.

we have redesigned the face of the fan clutch to be accurate

I wasnt ready to release this yet as I like to wait until I have them in hand prior to making a product announcement but the cat has been let out of the bag prematurely so I'll follow up

We are scheduled to have these new fan clutches in hand by the end of December

We had received some criticism in regards to the face not being accurate, so we modified them and here is what the new face looks like.

Thank you

Re: 070 clutch fan - 01/10/15 07:31 AM

Hi, Any update as to when they will be available?
Posted By: TONY_DAGOSTINO

Re: 070 clutch fan - 01/12/15 03:32 AM

Hi Jack

Thanks for your interest

They are now en-route to me and will be to me by the 2nd week of Feb. along with our 68-70 B-body vent window kits.

I'm sorry about the delay, nobody is more anxious then I am to get these in stock, but as most parts go it always seems to take longer for one reason or another. That's why I don't lie to "preadvertise" a part

Thank you
Tony

Hey Tony any interest in making an inking kit to sell alongside the clutch fans? I know there would be interest in it and I would take one.

I already have been offering that on our currently available fan clutches, not to sell a kit, but we can stamp them for you,

I'm just going to be expanding the date range of what I already have

thank you
Tony
