Torque Converter Finish - 08/30/14 03:48 AM

So what finish is suppose to be on a torque converter in 1970?

They were installed on the engine before it was painted so it should have some overspray. I'm not sure what finish they had prior to that. Bare metal?

I was pretty sure installed on engine prior to paint too, so was it just dusted, as in true overspray or did the exposed face (facing AFT) get painted ?

Anyone happen to have any photo's of a good example?

Here's the back of KSJ's 66K mile 69 Swinger 340 auto. SPD A04 (October 4, 1968) Los Angeles plant built. Troy fixed this up a couple years ago.

Owned by fellow clubmembers since 1993-ish. Bought from original owner.

Seems that the crank, flexplate, and torque converter were together when installed in the block???

About what I expected for the forward face if mounted to the block during paint.

Would you happen to have a pic of the other side that would have been exposed?

Any explanation for the orange paint marks? Inspection of sorts?

Thanks for taking the time to post, the pics are great, and I'm happy to see almost a twin to the way mine was done.
