Serious Problem with headliner I really need help - 08/22/14 02:20 AM

My 70 Cuda has the hardboard headliner with center conselette option. Four years ago it was installed using the origninal type of fabric (which was gotten from someone on Moparts). I went to the garage this morning and the center was sagging. After getting over the initial feeling of anger I push it up and it stuck for a while. The headliner then fell again. I called the local upholsterer who has done the seats on the car. He said no, nada, not gone to happen. I live in Rhode Island here are my questions:

Any suggestions on what I can do? I do not want to take the whole headliner down.
Does anyone one out there know a professional in this area that can help/do it?

Who sells the material if I have to take the bleeping thing down. I thinks I bought it from a guy named Barnabus here on the board.

I really don't, won't, cannot, take this headboard down. The car is so close to being done.

I am really tensed out about this. I cannot believe it.

Thanks, Jeff

Your problem is the guy that bonded the fabric to the headliner, either the wrong spray glue was used, or used too sparingly, perhaps the headliner had too much of the factory foam backing left on it when the new mat'l was installed causing a poor bond over the old substrate...either way your going to have to remove the board...fact

let me quess the upholsterer...Frank Leddy on Central Ave?

Yes you're bleeped...It's coming out for the fix{and so are the sailpanels}...When the time comes for the actual hardboard removal put all the side windows down, fold the front seats up against the dash and carefully lower/spin/remove it...It'll come out with some helpers...
Member Barnabas Kriss sells the material as well as Year-1 and some other places...The original hardboard needs to be super clean with no old glue as stated...I use 3M super trim adhesive for the festivities...
