Radiator transmission cooler / auto vs four speed

I had a discussion with someone on Saturday regarding the transmission cooler in the bottom tank of a radiator.
I say that all radiators, regardless of whether they are in an automatic or four speed equipped car, had an internal cooler in the bottom tank. The fours speed cars would have plugs screwed into the ports of the un-used cooler.
My friend says that only the automatic cars had the radiator with the cooler and that the bottom tank on a four speed car did not even have the provision for the cooler.

Your friend is wrong !!

My OEM 26" had plugs in the cooler tank holes. Transfered them over to a junkyard radiator I picked up long ago.

Correct that both 4 speed and auto had coolers on the bottom, but not all 4 speeds tanks had plugs, depending on model and year.
Here is a 1968 Dart, Barracuda 340 4 speed bottom tank that is 4 speed only, no automatic line provisions.

In the books 2898026 is 68 manual only 340 Dart Barracuda rad.

For 1970 and 1971 rads the following applies:
26" rads all have the tranny cooler on them, regardless of transmission type.
22" rads, the manual trans ones have no cooler or holes in the bottom tank for them. The automatics all do.
19" rads, the same applies as for 22" rads.
