Door Mirror

I need to do something with the mirror on the Dart. The original is pitted bad, so I either need to get it rechromed or pick up a repop. It is the remote style.

What do you suggest? Is it possible to tear it apart without breaking the mirror itself?

Car is '68 Dart GT.

Soak it in a one of your wife's baking pans filled with enough acetone to cover the back side of the glass 24 hours or less should do it. Don't tell her that you got the idea from this forum.

Or heat with a heat gun or torch,,,

MCBMetal, how is the quality? I doubt I can get it re-chromed for that, plus the chance of breaking something getting it apart.

Do they still have the raised pentastar on the backside or are they ground off?
