71 Plymouth B body wiring harness question. - 06/08/14 01:19 AM

Looking through the listings of harnesses at Year One for my 71 Plymouth B.

Exactly how many harnesses would you need to do the whole car?

Its now a 68 440 with electronic ignition and air.

I remember when I took it apart years ago basically any wiring under hood was butchered, and the harness that the tail lights were run on was horrible as the previous owner wired it with scraps. (Think a single 4 foot long wire made from 3 different wires all with those blue connectors you snap shut since he didn't have a single 4 foot piece)

Also does any one repop the bulk head connector and are they any good?

There would basically be 5 to do the whole car.

Forward headlamp harness
Engine Harness
Reverse/neutral safety harness
Dash Harness
Body (tail light) harness

The bulkhead connector is part of a new dash harness. I am not sure if it can be sourced separately.

Part Number:L23540
Backup light and neutral safety switch harness, 1971 B-body models with A/T and NOX exhaust emission controls.

Anyone know what the NOX emission controls are? And what they connect to?

My car was originally a 318 SSP but now has a 68 440 and 727 from a fury.

AFAIK, nox was on California cars only for '71 models. Some info from the '71 FSM;

I don't have NOX

Im getting confused, it seems the Year One website keeps having brain farts.

HU231n comes up as backup harness for 71 b.

Other times it comes up as a harness for 70-71 e

On one screen it comes up as for 71 b body and when you click "view" the description switches it to 70-71e.

Does the same harness fit both?

Same backup lamp harness fits both E and B body in 71.

These guys sell the bulkhead connector. Haven't seen one up close though.
Where in W.G. Do you live? I've been a native of this area since '80, and know mopar wiring and harness making. Be glad to lend a hand.

If you've been around that long have you ever seen this car?

That my satellite around 1992.

My demon

though shortly after that picture the hood started delaminating and it was blacked out along with the top of the fenders, doors and drip rails like a 340 duster.

Another of the sat

The sat was driven 92-94ish my girlfriend wrecked it twice.

The demon I drove from 93 to around 2000.
Got sideways in the rain with brand new tires that still had the little nobbies on them, hit a curb, began a roll and was stopped by a pole.
People who saw the car always wondered how most of the damage was on the top of the car (Top of quarter and trunk lid)

Hopefully they'll get done soon.

That first shot is at Bloomingdales W.G. Mall. Parking lot near Easton Road and Welsh. No I haven't seen your cars. I worked at the KMart over there in '83 and went to school at EMCO on Terwood. Worked at Ruch Tool on Terwood and at Hope Industries on Welsh in'94. I know the town, my in laws live there. Ever get tatooed at Sink the Ink? '87 i worked at the Meineke at Easton and Wyandotte Rd. Ever see a B7 '70 Super Bee around that time? I stopped driving it in '96 and switched to an HH1 gold white vinyl top '68 Charger.

Slight posibility I met you around 93. Ever get you Charger serviced at a gas station on IIRC norristown and horsham road?

A kid worked there who would have either been driving a 74 purple cuda, a 73 b5 challenger with a black top or a gold 73 challenger. I used to hang out there with him on occasion.

I also remember looking at a IIRC a b7 70 on Jarrett dodges lot that was there on consignment.

I've always done my own service work so it wasn't me. Maybe the guy I bought it from? I got it spring of '96. It had the granny bumpers up the sides that totally ruined the lines of the car. Dude I sold the '68 had a website up till last year. 68Charger.com. Not up on the web anymore though. I went by Jarrett '98? and they had the owners '66 Hemi Charger, red with black interior, fresh 440 motor, on the line for $7900? Close to that. It was immaculate! My credit was 0 and my boss wouldn't lend me the money. Oh the ones that slip away! That wasn't my '70 Bee on their lot. It's downstairs in my garage. Primer gray again. I had picked up a rear finish panel for my '70 that had the Jarrett top hat logo riveted to the panel. Wish I still had it. Can't believe they are gone, a true institution. John Deere should do well there though. At least it isn't a Chebby place!
