Painting 68 Barracuda Dash Frame

It's almost time to paint the dash frame for the 'cuda. I did a search here to see what other people have used and I saw a few posts about SEM Trim Black. How easy was it to spray? Did you need to reduce it? What finish? (I assume satin)

Would the Instrument Specialties paint be better?

Yes. It is the only way to get the true original finish and it must be shot with a gun. Once that dash is installed and the front glass installed it isn't coming out. I would hate to have to live with the wrong finish on my dash for the entire time I own the car. Do it once....do it right!

I think the SEM trim paint is too smooth. I like the Rustoleum Textured paint. Very fine texture.

I've seen a Totally Auto paint from a can shot from a gun and it was way too rough.

I tried to paint my dash frame black with Rustoleum trim paint from a spray bomb. As hard as I tried, I couldn't get the finish consistent enough to satisfy me. I eventually threw in the towel and took it to my local powder coater. He blasted and coated it with semi-mat fine texture powder for $65.00. The frame looks perfect. I probably spent that much money in time and paint trying to do it myself.
