what are these?

these came with a set of reproduction heater hoses for my 70 b-body. they are obviously metal straps to tie the hoses together with, but were these actually used from the factory? and if so, does anyone have any pictures of the hoses with these on?

Yes, they were used, but nope no pics here, check the pictures on the forums, should be some showing how and where.

On my 69 Charger, one was used to hold the hoses together between the bracket on the inner fender and the holder up above the alternator so the hose did not sag and come in contact with the pulley or fan belt.

I was under the impression that they were only used on A/C cars but they were included in my non A/C kit. Maybe the body style/year has something to do with it?

i'll wait to see if i can find some pictures, but in the end, i imagine they just go where they make the most sense; to keep the hoses together in places where they are the most loose.

Only a few of the metal straps show up. A pattern I see in those photos is this: If the heater nozzles on the firewall are inboard and near the valve cover (as on A body), some metal straps are shown. If the heater nozzles are outboard near the fender, other special heater hose brackets were used, and no metal straps are shown.

now that's interesting. in this pic, there is no bracket from the inner fender for the hoses like a b-body. i've never noticed this before, but do e-bodies not have them? then maybe these are for e-bodies?

My Challenger has a plastic strap on the inner fender that the hoses go through. It also has the bracket by the alternator.
