Factory appearing coil done right!

Factory appearing coil done right! - 02/27/14 01:37 AM

Good evening folk I had a friend redo my coil after I was not successful. He used an ECS transfer without issue, he repainted it as well and I think it turned out awesome. What say you?

I'm wanting to do the same thing, but ECS doesn't offer my date code. Your paint looks a little to shinny compared to my original, BUT then again my paint is 40 years old, so how do we know what is correct?
Looks really good.

Probably the lighting but as I understand it they were low quality gloss or maybe a satin when new.

Yes it's hard to say what is right, my 71 is almost flat with just a little satin. But I like what you have done.

did you use a Mopar coil or a generic parts store coil to start with?

I used an Accel super coil due to some ignition upgrades so it is a little different but you really have to look close to see it when installed. I'll probably put it on tomorrow and post a picture.

What hi-po aftermarket coil is the closet to the originals in size, shape, etc?

Looking to make an aftermarket into an OEM appearing by painting it black and maybe some stamping..

Looks pretty cool...Is the Accel Super Coil about the closet aftermarket coil to the originals?

With all the wires ect. I don't think anybody will notice. They will be looking at the green lettering. Good job.

Let me be Scott. I gotta get some screws from a vacuum secondary carb, I'm a double pumper guy so none of my extra had screws I could steel. Rule was anything I couldn't change in a week end had to be perfect the rest I would work with. It's been apart for 17 plus years and painted for over 10. I decided it was time to put it together, started in Sept/Oct and should be driving by the end of the week.
