???? on B-body white interior - 02/24/14 05:21 AM

On a 70 road runner 4 speed, If the carpet and dash is black, are the kick panels and a pillar covers also black? Seats and door panels are white and I do not remember seeing any a-pilars in white. Thanks for any help!

That armrest pad above should be white.
Basically the dash, front garnish & trim, and carpet should be the secondary color, as would the package tray and a console.
'68s differed a bit as far as the metal door/quarter trim and headliner colors, but '68-'70 were the same color treatment.
My '68 Charger had a white headliner, but my '69 RR's was black (both white/black interior cars).

Thanks to all. I thought that was the case, but sometimes I just need a confirmation.

Not to Hijack.....but what color are the long headliner mouldings that snap on the sides above the door and quarter window in a white interior car ? In my blue interior car (68 GTX) Everything was blue.

I am thinking maybe black since the A pillar color is black and that mldg runs into it. Same question then for the headliner front windshield mldg ? It goes over the black A pillar mldg so would it be white or black also ?

All windshield garnish would be same color. The side moldings though match the headliner, as would the upper rear glass garnish.

This GTX was posted by Alan of ANL auto when he used to play here. There were some on that thread that had seen this on some b-bodies and not just with the white/burnt orange interior (which always seems to raise anomalies). They said these were white plastic, not painted. Looks weird.

The white kick panals do look wierd. I'd think there would be a part number for white kick panels in the 70 Parts book though.

The burnt-orange metal on the doors suggests that the car's upholstery was changed to white during its restoration from its original burnt-orange. Never seen white kick panels on that era B, but I certainly haven't seen every interior made either.

Yes, if your headliner is white. What you're describing is how my '68 Charger was, but I'm not 100% sure if '68 Coronets got a white headliner with white interior like the Chargers did.
Probably, the definitive answer for the Coronet is in the trim & color guides that are on the Hamtramck Historical site.

Re: ???? on B-body white interior - 02/25/14 08:09 AM

Interesting. I guess the '68 Charger was a different deal on the headliner color, then. It was a completely original car.
I'd like to hear more people weigh in on this for the '68 white Charger, Coronet & Belvedere interiors.
'68 door/quarter metal was the contrast color with white interiors, but for '69 & '70 it was white...at least on every original one I've seen. Whether that '70 GTX pictured is accurate or modified, I don't know; can anyone answer that?

Did that car have a console 4spd?

My 68 Barracuda has the same color white and burgundy interior. All of that above written is the same except it had burgundy carpet, but it's an automatic.

I know of another 68 Barracuda all burgundy interior 4spd console barracuda, it had burgundy carpet.

This 70 road runner has white headliner, trim and door panels. The package tray, dash and carpet, kick panels and a pillars are black. Whether all of that is original and correct is why I started this thread. Another things is are the door plugs white or black. I know the little access plug for the vent wing adjustment is white. But I have seen other color doors with black plugs. ????

Here is a pic of the black a-pillar and the white windshield trim. Does this look right?

Mine looks like that with the exception of the windshield top molding being black and not white.

Agreed....at least on a 70 B body the windshield trim piece and A pillar trim should be black.

Re: ???? on B-body white interior - 02/26/14 06:03 PM

Thanks guys this makes sense. I will paint the windshield trim black. It just did not look right the way it is now.
So now the black from the carpet, to the black kick panels, to the black dash, to the black a-pillars, to the black windshield trim will all flow.
Also thanks on confirming the door plugs.
