Can anyone post a picture showing the tach wire coming through the firewall on a 71 Charger? I'm adding a tach during the resto and it's a car I did not take apart so I want to make sure I run the wire correctly.

Do you have a service manual? The tach wire from what I can tell comes off of block 20 of the bulkhead connector, then goes to the tach as a separate wire. There is a yellow acc feed wire that leads from the tach.

No, I do not have a 71 service manual. On the 70 and older cars there is a 1/2" dia. hole in the fire wall that the tach harness goes through. I am assuming a 71 is similiar. I want to make sure I drill the hole properly.

No hole in the firewall. Goes thru the bulkhead !

Let me try to get a picture of mine. You need a manual to do this stuff. The tach was an option,and as such was added on with separate wires that weren't in a bundle.Like I said, they just plugged it to block 20. Give me a day, and I will get a picture.

Sorry, but after looking at mine, I would have to take the fuse block apart to show the bulkhead connector. Go over to the Road Runner Nest forum, and see if anybody has theirs apart.

No worries. Since it feeds through the block I will get a schematic and route it properly. I am getting close to getting the engine compartment painted and I wanted to drill any needed holes before paint. It sounds like I don't have to worry about any extra holes.
